Manufactured from your flooring material—or from unfinished stock when preferred—for an easy and seamless installation, our custom treads provide a polished, cohesive look that enhances the overall appearance of your space.
Each product lists the compatible materials it can be made from.
Also referred to as ‘box treads,’ these steps are positioned between two stringers, eliminating the need for returns. The front face of the tread can be customized in both style and dimension.
Refers to treads where one or both sides of the staircase are exposed. In these cases, the exposed side(s) of each tread must be finished with a return. For example, a staircase positioned against a wall will typically require a return on one side, while a staircase situated in the middle of a room will require returns on both sides.
These are used in winding staircases, where each step is uniquely sized and features a custom curved return to follow the staircase’s turn.
Typically the first step of a staircase, the bullnose tread features a rounded edge—often on one or both sides. It is available in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be customized for a more modern look, such as by squaring off the edge.
A waterfall tread is a single, continuous piece that integrates both the tread and riser. This design creates a clean, seamless look with no overhanging nosing.
Floating treads are used in staircases with open risers (i.e., no vertical riser between steps). Depending on the design, 4 to 6 sides of each tread are typically finished. These treads are more complex and require precise measurements, as they are often installed within metal stringers or mounted to steel plates for support.
U-shaped treads are versatile and can be used in both open-riser staircases and renovation projects. They can be used for capping existing stairs, as they wrap over the old tread and nosing, creating a clean, updated look.
